From receptions honoring donors to academic conferences, from concerts to formal dinners, Florida State University hosts hundreds of special events each year. Thousands of donors, dignitaries, elected officials, media, alumni, members of the community, faculty, staff, students and their parents take part in special events each year.
Each function offers the opportunity to shine the spotlight on this campus and to help build the reputation of its faculty, students and staff. For this reason, event planning, development and execution must be at the highest professional standard.
With primary responsibility for presidential events, the Office of Special Events in University Relations supports efforts across campus in effective development, management and marketing of events.
The Office of Special Events' experience with Florida State University's wide range of constituents and friends has given this office important insight into the unique demands and protocol of a university environment. Similarly, the office's experience in handling Presidential-level special events has resulted in a high level of expertise in event purpose development and logistics.
Depending on the nature of the event, Special Events' professional staff is available for assistance and advice on:
- Event Marketing and Protocol
- Cost and Budget Management
- Program Design Conception and Production
- Logistical Coordination
- Facility Use and Design
- Event Promotion and Public Relations
To support event planners across campus, the Special Events staff has created a comprehensive web site, "Planning a Special Event at Florida State University."
